Cornbread Recipes

Cake Bread

Ingredients:
1 cup Hall's cornmeal
Water
Salt

Mix one (1) cup cup of Hall’s cornmeal with water and a teaspoon of salt. Leave mixture soupy and pour a thin layer into a hot, well greased frying pan. Allow to brown and turn over. Serve hot.

Pone Bread

Ingredients:
1 cup Hall's Cornmeal 
Water
Salt

If making pone bread use less water and shape batter into pones. Cook in oven at 425° in a well greased pan until brown.

Cornbread or Corn Sticks

Ingredients:
1 cup Hall’s Cornmeal
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
2 tablespoons shortening
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
 

Sift dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk, well beaten egg and shortening. Pour into well greased frying pan or corn stick pan. Bake in preheated oven at 350° for 25 minutes or until brown.
